TRU is an international university founded in 1970. TRU has advanced teaching equipment, including a variety of facilities including the large-scale stadium, clubs, theaters, and dining rooms. Students can reach their goals with flexible learning options, individualized student services, hands-on learning opportunities, and an inclusive, diverse environment. The campus provides 197 programs, from trades to traditional academics, certificates to bachelor’s and master’s degrees, as well as support services for both students and faculty to ensure engaging, innovative teaching and learning.

TRU offer many student services such as educational advising, library services, writing center services, print shop, wellness center, math help center, disability services, etc. These services assist students in study and live through a convenient way. Old main is the oldest and the most classic building, which is also a busy one during the school days. Old main, international building, science, and art and education are the main teaching buildings. House of learning, Campus Activity Centre, and Old main are great places to have a break, hang out with friends or meet with classmates. Students can go to Tournament Capital Centre (Kamloops’ largest recreational facility) or Gym to work out. On the opposite side of the gym is a meat store, sometimes offering fresh meat. Near to the meat store is the culinary arts building. It sells food and beverage on the second floor on weekdays.

We found that TRU is a great option for the future students because firstly, it enables students to have a real international multi-cultural study abroad and live experience. On campus, there are 13,443 students from 85 nations worldwide which contains 16% international students. Secondly, Kamloops is a city far away from the big city which avoids entertainment, nightlife, riots, etc, so students can concentrate on studying. Thirdly, TRU has a good view, a safe, friendly, and pleasant environment for students to get exotic experience. Fourthly, small-class teaching enables the professors to pay attention to each student. Furthermore, low cost of living and various outdoor activities (ie. skiing, skateboarding, horseback riding, water sports, camping, hiking, golf, fishing, etc) are great motivations for students to choose TRU.

As a Chinese student studying in TRU. Our program is Tourism management, which is one of the most popular programs in this university. There are many interesting courses including in this program, such as Food and Beverage, Event Logical, and Wine Tasting. This is my third year in TRU and I have met many great teachers and schoolmates.

One of the valuable experiences my teacher provided me is PCMA in Vancouver. Around 40 students spend 4 days stay in Four Season in Vancouver and attended the PCMA conference (professional convention management association). It’s located in Vancouver Convention Center and it was educational and fun. It provides me a wonderful experience talking with great managers from different countries. Wine Tasting is also a very useful and interesting course. I learnt different kinds of wines and their basic knowledge and how they produced. The professor brought us to a local winery and let us visit and do the wine tasting. It is a very unforgettable experience. In these three years, I have learnt many things that will help me in the future when I get a job. I am very thankful to my great professors. In this year, I have taken Event Logical, which is an interesting course. My professor told me that we would have an opportunity to get the event planner experiences. I believe when I go back to China, I will have more experience than others, which can provide me better opportunity to get a good job.

In conclusion, TRU is a great option for both international students and domestic students due to the diverse cultures, various programs, and helpful faculties and friendly schoolmates. Do not hesitate to come and join us and build your own unique study experience.
